An 11-year old Samsung laptop packed with six types of dangerous malware sold for £1.03m in an online auction. Billed as an artwork titled “The Persistence of Chaos”, malware on the PC includes the infamous ILOVEYOU virus from 2000 that infected computers at the Houses of Parliament, and the WannaCry ransomware that struck organisations around the world in 2017.

Because the sale of malware is restricted in the US, the PC ports and internet capabilities have to be “functionally disabled” before it can be shipped to its new owner.
